Even so, I enjoyed learning about these characters and seeing them grow through my actions. As much as I loved parts of the overall experience, others let me down. Night School Studio clearly wasn't afraid to experiment and try some different and interesting things with presentation in regards to a narrative-based, choice-driven game. I constantly wanted to see where it was going and where my choices would lead. To Oxenfree's credit, it kept me engaged the whole way through. It's a fantastic game, and one that sets a tremendous bar for Night School Studio and the upcoming 2016 class of games. Oxenfree is a sweet story with just enough darkness on the edges to keep things interesting. Though there are multiple endings giving us a reason to replay Alex's adventure, there's nothing quite like your first time through the rabbit hole.

The world is bewildering, the mysteries are thrilling, and the characters are so well-realized it's hard not to fall deep into Oxenfree's embrace.

It's not often that we pick up a game and play it straight through to completion in one sitting, but Oxenfree just hooked us from the minute we started.
